In-Office Examinations

Members can take a BOABC exam in the workplace.

It will require some work by your Human Resources (HR) and Information Technology (IT) staff to get the initial set up done and made ready for future use. The system and set up documents, together with contact information is available below. Although there is some set up time for HR and IT staff the first time, once set up, the system can be used as often as required. Employers will benefit from less down time and no travel expenses. Overall this is a win – win scenario for both employer and employee.

Depending on work volumes, set up appointments can sometimes take a few weeks, so please plan early.
Please advise your HR staff that if they wish, they can ignore the recommendation for them to take a Pearson VUE administrator test, mentioned in the document. This requirement has been waived and mostly pertains to staff at large scale Pearson VUE test centres. However, the recommendation is a good one, if they have the time to follow it. Pearson VUE will set up software on the HR department computer so that they can admit students and another work station will be set up with the software for taking exams.
Please explain to your HR department that the BOABC exams are ICC contractors exams and Pearson VUE is the service provider for online exam capability. For exams that need plans, the BOABC office will send the plans to the proctor.
The Proctor for the exam must be HR staff or a Licensed Professional. A direct supervisor is not permitted to proctor an exam.
Members wishing to take an exam must still be pre-authorized by the BOABC office. The pre-authorization fee is $25.00. The $200.00 fee for the exam is paid directly to Pearson VUE.
If you are going to request that your employer sets up online exam capability, please share this information together with the setup and contact documents with your supervisor, HR and IT departments.

BOABC Private Site Setup Process

1. Ensure that the site meets the software & physical requirements:
2. For each site: please provide to Andrea Radwanski
(andrea.radwanski@pearson.com) the following information so we can get these
sites set up with site IDs in the Pearson VUE system:
a. Site Name
b. Site location (full address)
c. Phone number
d. Contact name, to include contact information (phone number / email address)
e. Number of workstations = 1
3. It is strongly recommended that following the training of online modules that the
staff working at each site take the Pearson VUE Test Administrator Certification
Exam. This is suggested so the staff understand the test delivery software, including
downloading registrations, checking in a candidate, uploading results, etc. Test
center staff will also know who to contact when issues arise.
4. Prior to testing, Pearson VUE will ship out a Welcome Kit to the site address we have
on file (if these materials need to be shipped to a different address than the site,
we’d need to know the “ship to” address).
5. Once all of the above steps are completed, the sites can be turned on and will
remain active.
