2023 Building & Plumbing Code Update Training

The Province is preparing to adopt the next edition of the B.C. Building Code. Under the Building Act, code update training is mandatory for all qualified building and plumbing officials (this includes BOIT & POIT). All officials must complete this training by November 21, 2024, to maintain their qualifications.

In accordance with the Association’s Administrative Agreement with the Province, online code update training courses will be offered starting early 2024, click here for details.

Training requirements for qualified officials:

• Building: qualified building officials must complete the building code update training only
• Plumbing: qualified plumbing officials must complete the plumbing code update training only
• Building & Plumbing: anyone who is dual qualified as both a building and plumbing official must complete building and plumbing code update training

CPD Eligibility:

CPD points will need to be self-reported by logging into your member portal. If you complete Code Update Training before the end of 2023, you have the option of claiming these points on your current CPD cycle, OR you may claim these points towards your 2024 CPD cycle starting January 1, 2024.
