Darren Dyck

Darren Dyck grew up in Vanderhoof as part of a logging family that held close ties with the residential construction industry. This exposure nurtured his interests in residential construction and, in 2004, motivated him to begin working in a cabinet shop, which helped to both further develop his carpentry skills and formally introduce him to the residential construction industry in 2006. Darren worked in residential, commercial and institutional construction fields and received his Carpentry Red Seal in 2016.

Darren joined the BOABC in April 2017 when he began working for the District of Vanderhoof. As a ‘green’ building official at the time, Darren was grateful for the support he received from several colleagues spread throughout neighboring Regional Districts. Four years later in April 2021, Darren achieved his RBO status.

Today, Darren sits on the BOABC Awards Committee, the CHBA Advocacy & Government Relations Committee, and the District of Vanderhoof Housing Committee. His background in logging, residential construction, and municipal governance have helped him to develop the skills and expertise needed to pay forward the favors he has received and to help other building officials grow in their position.

Darren is excited to be representing the Central and Northern Interior Zone as a member of the BOABC Executive team and hopes to promote and expand BOABC membership in his zone.
