Presentation Overview:

Cloudpermit, a leading software for local governments, helps close to 500 local governments provide online processes for staff, applicants, homeowners, builders, designers, and everyone in-between. The cloud-based software enables building and planning departments to communicate and collaborate online with applicants, other departments, and third-party agencies, and speeds up permit issuance by 80% with streamlined ways of working. By moving all processes online, departments save on travel, operational, and printing costs, and can expect an increase in permit value from faster permit issuance. Reporting is also an advantage with Cloudpermit as departments can easily and quickly generate Statistics Canada reporting, create different types of reports with a few clicks (permits, assessment reporting, payments, inspections, and reviews), and easily download reports with one click for easy access and organization.

Presenters:

Jarkko Turtiainen is Cloudpermit’s Senior Vice President, North America, and has 15+ years of business and leadership experience. His e-permitting and global business expertise have helped establish Cloudpermit as the world’s leading e-permitting platform for local government building departments. He is eager to share the many benefits a digital permitting solution can bring to governments, builders, contractors, inspectors, and applicants across British Columbia. He can be reached at 647-248-7761 or jarkko.turtiainen@cloudpermit.com.

Nathan Brooks, born and raised around construction in Southern Alberta, received his education as a Civil Engineering Tech with a love for drafting, GIS & aerial survey, and moved into the growing and dynamic industry of Building Inspectors in B.C. After eight years in his role as a Building Inspector, he is now a Level 3 RBO & Zone Director for the BOABC’s North West Zone. He has made great success this year by digitalizing the permitting process for the City of Terrace. He is eager to show the differences digital processes can make for Building Officials and in improving customer service. Brooks is a strong believer that continued growth and digital advancement will lead to standardization and enable an innovative and robust building industry.
