Oakridge Park Development Site Tour – May 25, 2026

Oakridge Park is a mixed-use development project that is currently under construction in Vancouver, BC.  It is considered to be the country’s most extensive redevelopment project. The comprehensively planned community encompasses residential, retail, office, public, civic, and cultural amenities spanning approximately five million square feet, has an estimated build cost of $7 billion, and covers an area of 28 Acres, on a 10 year construction schedule. Please joint LMDG, QuadReal, EllisDon, Peak Construction Group and the City of Vancouver to take a behind the scenes tour, of what it takes to ensure a project of this scale meets or exceeds code and how we ensure public safety during one of the most complexed phased occupancies ever undertaken.

BCIT Net Zero Buildings: An Envelope First Approach – May 25, 2026

This off-site tour takes place in the BCIT High Performance Building Lab and focuses on how envelope design drives net zero performance. Using real-life mockups and real-world examples, an expert instructor will lead a guided show and tell on best practices for achieving low Thermal Energy Demand Intensity through better insulation, reduced thermal bridging, and high levels of airtightness. The session is structured to encourage questions and discussion, with ample time to explore details that are directly relevant to plan review and field inspection.

BCIT Residential Air Source Heat Pumps: Design, Installation, and Performance – May 26, 2026

This off-site tour, hosted in the BCIT High Performance Building Lab (Small Residential Heat Pump section), focuses on residential air source heat pump systems. Through a guided show and tell using installed equipment and system mockups, an expert instructor will review current best practices for system design and installation of high performing heat pumps. The session emphasizes how heat pumps interact with high performance building envelopes and what building officials should look for during inspections. As with the first session, the format allows for open discussion and extensive Q and A.
