While new to building inspection, Ferdinand has primarily been self-employed for most of his adult life running various construction, manufacturing and design related businesses in the Vancouver Lower Mainland. He has worked as a designer, project manager, contractor and company director. He also held various manager positions in the railroad industry. He oversaw track maintenance for the Lower Mainland for one of Canada’s national railroads and managed two facilities in North Vancouver that performed certification and re-certification work on dangerous goods tanker cars. Both roles were focused on ensuring a high degree of regulatory compliance, record keeping and public safety. Ferdinand is a lifelong learner and took the opportunity during the slowdown caused by the pandemic to enroll at BCIT and Camosun College, where he participated in BC Building Code related courses to prepare for the BOABC building and plumbing qualification exams. He is currently employed with the District of North Vancouver as a Building Inspector, after getting his initial start at the City of Chilliwack.
When not working, Ferdinand enjoys spending time with his friends and family, restoring old boats and yachts and enjoying outdoor activities such as boating, fishing and hiking.
