Linda Smerychynski lives in Prince George. She retired from the Ministry of Attorney General, Court Services, after 35 years of service, with her last position being the Court Administrator/Justice of the Peace on Haida Gwaii for a period of 8 years. In 2005, she was appointed to the Mental Health Review Panel and is actively sitting on Tribunal Hearings throughout the year. She held an appointment with the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction as an Employment & Assistance Tribunal member hearing application between 2006 and 2022. She was appointed to the Property Assessment Review Panel in the position of member for In-Person Hearings and as Chairperson for Teleconference Hearings from 2007 to 2020. She presently holds an appointment with the Ministry of Justice as an Adjudicator under the Local Government Bylaw Notice Enforcement Act. She is very involved in the electoral process in Canada and with Elections Canada, she holds the appointment of Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies and has also held appointments with Elections BC as the District Electoral Officer between 2007 to 2020.
Her community involvement has included the College of New Caledonia Board of Governors (Vice Chair & committees); Canadian Red Cross – Emergency Response; Prince George Hospice; Council of Canadian Administrative Tribunals; Masset Economic Development Board; Tlaa Juuhldaa (Masset) Transition House; Old Masset Repatriation; Okanagan College Advisory (Vernon); Elected Official with the City of Vernon and numerous other organizations. Through education courses, she has completed courses with the UN Peace Operations Institute in the area of Logistics and Human Rights & Human Law (international); Haida Language; Administrative Law; Workplace Violence and others.
