Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act: An Overview for Building Officials

Caitlin Lemiski, Director of Policy for the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC, will provide a session for building officials about the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).  Whether you’re new to FIPPA or have specific concerns about your responsibilities, this presentation will provide you a thorough overview of the various legal authorities, guidance on disclosing information about permits, and tips to assist you with records and overall privacy management. The session will be followed by a question and answer period.

Speaker – Caitlin Lemiski

Caitlin has worked for BC’s Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner since 2007. She currently serves as the Director of Policy. Caitlin has a BA from the University of Victoria, a law degree from the University of Manitoba, and she maintains three certifications (CIPM, CIPP_C and CIPT) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Caitlin speaks regularly about BC’s access and privacy laws. She has investigated access and privacy disputes on behalf of the Commissioner, and she has authored over 20 Orders as an OIPC Adjudicator.
