Stephanie Killam is the former Mayor of Mackenzie. She worked as the senior secretary at Mackenzie Secondary School for 27 years, retiring in 2006. In 2005, she was elected Mayor after 9 years as a municipal Councillor and retired in 2014. Currently, Ms. Killam is chair of the Muskwa Kechika Advisory Board, Chair of Geoscience BC, a Director on the Fraser Basin Council and a Director on the Fish & Wildlife Compensation Board – Peace Region. Locally she is President of the Autumn Lodge Seniors’ Society, Vice President of the Mackenzie Nature Observatory Society and President of the local Rotary Chapter. Recently, she was a Director on the Northern Health Authority, McLeod Lake Mackenzie Community Forest and Mackenzie Counselling Services. Ms. Killam served as Chair of the Resources North Association and the Canadian Model Forest Network. In the past, she has served on the Museum Society, Club 55 (senior’s activities), Mackenzie Chamber of Commerce, Municipal Emergency Program Committee, Mackenzie and Area Health Advisory Committee, Mackenzie and District Hospital Board, Community Health Council, Northern Interior Regional Health Board and Children’s and Women’s Health Centre, as well as many others. Committed to the community and region, Ms. Killam is well versed in environmental issues, working to strike a balance between conservation and economic development.
