Presentation Title: 2020 National Building Code Changes: A Plumbing + Mechanical Perspective

Presentation Description: This presentation focuses on five changes to the National Building Code that are of interest from a plumbing/mechanical perspective. Two new sentences for DWV transitions will be covered in detail by reviewing how the fire testing was used to address comments from the public review.

Presenter: Cory Norman

Presenter’s Bio: Cory is a professional engineer who studied mechanical engineering at the University of Alberta and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He started his professional career with Hilti educating the BC market on proper firestop practices from design to installation. After a move to Jensen Hughes (formerly Gage Babcock & Associates), Cory developed his understanding of the building code while providing clients with alternative solutions & firestop engineering judgements. Cory currently supports consulting and inspection community for IPEX as the regional engineer for western Canada.
