Presentation Overview:

This webinar will expand on the earlier training to teach building officials how to use Sizer to verify single-span, multi-span, cantilevered, oblique or inclined members, wall studs, columns and CLT walls individually (Beam and Column mode) or as part of an entire structure (Concept mode) for a varying of materials (sawn lumber, built-up, glulam, CLT, SCL, I-joist, steel beam). A demonstration of the key features in Beam, Column, and Concept modes will be presented, such as: design for limit states (bending, shear, compression and combined loading etc.), serviceability (deflection and vibration), and fire resistance design. By the end of this webinar, building officials will be able to verify different structural components as individual elements or as an element within the structure.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn to build and verify individual structural components (e.g., beams and columns) or as part of a whole structure in Concept mode and import them into Beam and Column mode.
2. Use Sizer’s Beam mode to verify designs for wood beams, joists, rafters, purlins and CLT panels for simply supported, sloped, multi-span, and cantilever beams.
3. Use Sizer’s Column mode to verify designs for columns, wall studs and wall panels subjected to compression, tension or combined axial and lateral loads.
