CPD Opportunity – CSA Certification Requirements for Prefabricated Buildings, Modules, and Panels

Key Learnings:

To ensure that a prefabricated part of a building meets or exceeds the requirements of the relevant building code, it is important to understand the certification requirements and key elements of the CSA certification standard. This knowledge will help engineers, manufacturers, and building officials comply with regulations.

Abstract:

The purpose of this presentation is to provide attendees with an overview and understanding of the appropriate CSA certification standards used to construct prefabricated buildings, modules, and panels including the applicable certification requirement based on the building material chosen for the project and the applicable design code. The presentation will also explain how building codes across provinces deal with factory-constructed buildings.

Additionally, it will cover how to verify the certification body’s accreditation and scope, which specify the types of products the certification body is qualified to certify. The importance of product labelling for modular construction will also be outlined.

The presentation will conclude by highlighting how code compliance is achieved in a factory setting and the other applicable CSA standards used for prefabricated buildings, modules, and panels that govern manufacturing facilities.
