Robert Baker

Robert has a diversified background in building code development, education, and administration, with a focus on building envelope.  His current role as the Assistant Chief Building Inspector with the Township of Langley for over fifteen years in the public sector was preceded by a previous role as a Building Envelope Consultant for five years in the private sector.  His education background includes a Diploma of Technology in Building Engineering Technology from BCIT, the same program in which he has since been an instructor for over fifteen years in both the part time and full studies for multiple Part 3 Building Code courses, ranging from introductory to advanced.  Robert has served multiple terms for over fifteen years as an appointed member of the Standing Committee for Environmental Separation with the National Research Council of Canada, which involves authoring of ongoing maintenance and revisions for Part 5 of the National Building Code.  Robert has served as a volunteer on the BOABC Examinations Committee for almost a decade and as an elected member of the Executive for multiple terms, historically as a Lower Mainland Zone Director, and currently as Vice President, Examinations.  Robert is a both a Registered Building Official and certified Plumbing Official.
